Everything you need to know before booking
How quickly can I see an online doctor in Ireland?
Most patients can be seen the same day. DrCall appointments run every day, and the earliest bookable time is 30 minutes from now. The booking page always shows live availability.
How much does an online GP consultation cost?
Consultations start from €35. That one price covers your consultation, including a sick cert, repeat prescription or referral where clinically appropriate. Your card is authorised when you book and only charged once a GP confirms your appointment.
Can I get a sick cert online in Ireland?
Yes, where your doctor considers it clinically appropriate after speaking to you. Mention that you need a certificate when you book. Whether a particular employer or college accepts it is up to them, so check their requirements if you are unsure.
Can an online doctor give me a prescription?
Yes, where it is clinically appropriate. Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose. DrCall cannot prescribe benzodiazepines, Z-drugs, opioids or stimulants.
Is my online consultation confidential and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. Consultations use secure, GDPR-compliant technology, our doctors follow Irish Medical Council guidelines, and the same doctor–patient confidentiality applies as in a face-to-face visit.
What happens if I need to be seen in person?
If a physical examination is needed, your doctor will explain why and advise on next steps — for example your own GP, an urgent care centre or an emergency department. In an emergency call 112 or 999.
Is DrCall covered by my medical card, GP visit card or health insurance?
DrCall consultations are private appointments paid for by card, so they are not covered by a medical card or GP visit card. Some private health insurers offer cashback on GP visits, so check your policy.
When can I book an online doctor?
Appointments are available seven days a week, including evenings and weekends, in 15-minute slots. The booking page shows the live, bookable times for the next two weeks.
