What a consultation can cover
- Symptoms that could mean diabetes, and whether you need a blood test
- Understanding your blood test results
- Diet, activity and weight — practical changes that help
- Questions about your medicines, and repeat prescriptions where appropriate
- Feet, eyes, kidneys and heart — the checks people with diabetes need
Ongoing care
Diabetes needs regular in-person checks, such as blood tests, blood pressure, foot checks and eye screening. An online consultation does not replace these, but it can help between appointments. Your doctor will advise you where to get the checks you need.
Urgent symptoms
Get urgent help for vomiting with very high blood sugar, confusion, drowsiness, deep or fast breathing, or signs of very low blood sugar that do not improve after treating it. In an emergency call 112 or 999.
Frequently asked questions
Can an online doctor diagnose diabetes?
Diagnosis needs a blood test. An online doctor can assess your symptoms and risk and arrange or advise on testing.
Can I get my diabetes medicines renewed online?
Where appropriate after reviewing you, a prescription is sent to your pharmacy. Regular in-person checks are still needed.
