What you can talk about

  • Constant worry, panic or feeling on edge
  • Low mood, loss of interest or feeling hopeless
  • Stress at work, college or home
  • Sleep problems and exhaustion
  • Changes in appetite, drinking or how you cope

What happens in the consultation

Your doctor listens, asks about how you feel and how it affects daily life, and talks through options with you: self-help steps, talking therapies, local counselling and, where appropriate, medical treatment. They will also check on safety and agree follow-up with you or your regular GP.

If you need urgent help

If you are thinking about harming yourself or you are in immediate danger, call 112 or 999 now. Samaritans offer free, confidential listening on 116 123 at any hour, and the HSE lists mental health supports across Ireland.

A confidential space

What you tell the doctor is confidential. Consultations are not recorded, and you decide what, if anything, is shared with your regular GP.

Frequently asked questions

Can an online doctor help with anxiety or depression?

If your doctor considers it clinically appropriate after assessing you, yes.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Medical confidentiality applies and the consultation is not recorded.
