A doctor on Sunday without leaving home
With a Sunday online doctor appointment you speak to a fully qualified, Irish-registered GP by secure video or by phone. You explain your symptoms, the doctor asks questions, and you agree a plan: self-care advice, a prescription where appropriate, or a recommendation to be seen in person.
It is a good option for problems that are worrying but not an emergency — and it can save a long wait at an emergency department.
Common reasons people book on a Sunday
- A fever, sore throat or cough that has got worse since Friday
- A urinary infection that started over the weekend
- A rash, bite, sting or skin infection
- Running out of a regular medicine before Monday
- A sick certificate for Monday so you can rest without worry
- Advice about a child who is unwell but alert and drinking
Be ready for your Sunday consultation
- A phone, or a device with a camera and microphone
- A quiet, private place with a good signal
- The names of any medicines you take and any allergies
- The name and town of your usual pharmacy
Sunday safety: when to call 112 or 999
Do not use an online appointment for an emergency. Call 112 or 999 for severe chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, heavy bleeding, a serious injury, or if someone has collapsed or is unresponsive.
